Brent Ulmer is the Owner and President of Ulmer Auction Service and a lead auctioneer for the company. He learned about the auction business firsthand from his father, Randy Ulmer, growing up immersed in the industry on his family’s farm near Ashley, North Dakota. This early exposure shaped his strong work ethic, industry knowledge, and commitment to integrity.

Brent is a graduate of the Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa, and the Advanced Auctioneer Academy in Phoenix, Arizona. As an auctioneer, he facilitates bidding, engages buyers and sellers, and ensures each auction is conducted efficiently, professionally, and in full compliance with industry regulations.

In his role as Owner and President, Brent oversees all aspects of Ulmer Auction Service, including strategic planning, operations, financial management, marketing, business development, and staff leadership. He plays a key role in maintaining client relationships, developing innovative marketing strategies, and guiding the company’s continued growth. Under his leadership, Ulmer Auction has expanded into a modern, multi-platform auction company with a strong national and international reach.

Outside of the auction business, Brent enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their two children, Bennett and Alyvia. He loves cooking for his family, playing board games with his kids, and spending time fishing whenever he can.

Randy Ulmer founded Ulmer Auction Service in December of 1978, building the company from the ground up with a strong commitment to integrity, hard work, and personalized service. What began as a small, family-operated auction business has grown into one of the most respected auction companies in the region—thanks largely to Randy’s steady leadership and hands-on approach.

As founder and auctioneer, Randy played an active role in managing day-to-day operations, leading auction events, and ensuring every sale ran smoothly and professionally. He also mentored the next generation, guiding his son, Brent Ulmer, into the auction industry and helping shape the future of the company. Randy’s experience, knowledge, and passion for the business laid the foundation for Ulmer Auction’s long-term success.

Nearly five decades later, the values Randy built the company on—honesty, trust, and strong relationships—continue to define Ulmer Auction Service and guide its culture and reputation.

When he’s not running auctions, Randy enjoys relaxing on the lake, spending quality time with his family, and keeping up with all the grandkids. During the winter months, you’ll find him in Texas, but for the rest of the year, Randy proudly calls Ashley, North Dakota, home.

Dusty Hasper was raised on a small grains, beef, and dairy farm near Herreid, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong passion for agriculture. During high school, he worked at a local sale barn and feedlot, gaining valuable hands-on experience in livestock marketing and animal care. He later worked with a custom harvesting crew, traveling extensively and expanding his agricultural knowledge across diverse operations. Building on that foundation, Dusty operated his own Custom Ag business, continuing his commitment to serving producers and supporting the agricultural community. He went on to build a long and successful career in the energy industry, working in and eventually owning a directional drilling company for nearly 20 years. While most of his projects were based in North Dakota, his work took him to numerous states across the country. Currently, Dusty serves as Chief Strategy & Development Officer at Ulmer Auction and lives southeast of Bismarck with his wife and two daughters. In addition to managing agricultural land and commercial properties, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, checking out equipment, building unique and out-of-the-ordinary projects, and traveling whenever he gets the opportunity.

Carson, a dedicated sales representative from Stanley, North Dakota, is excited to begin a new chapter in his career following his hire on July 7. Though new to the sales industry, he brings extensive experience and a strong connection to agriculture, having grown up working alongside his uncle and brother on the family farm and ranch. With a genuine passion for agriculture and a strong work ethic, Carson is eager to apply his knowledge and energy to his role in sales.

Born and raised in North Dakota, John Wayne Enge brings a strong background in the agricultural industry. With 25 years of experience selling ag equipment—half of which was spent at a John Deere dealership—John has always prioritized taking care of his customers and providing honest, reliable service.

In his free time, John enjoys working on his hobby farm, raising cattle and sheep, and cultivating corn and soybeans. He is based in Ellendale, ND.

Logan has been with the company for 3 and a half years and plays a key role in building and maintaining client relationships. As an Independent Sales Representative, Logan works to promote Ulmer Auction’s services, helping clients navigate the auction process and ensuring they receive the best value. He identifies sales opportunities, negotiates deals, and ensures a positive experience for customers throughout their transactions.

In his free time, Logan enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, and working with cattle.

Payden joined the team as a full-time employee this year and is focused on building relationships with potential clients, understanding their needs, and offering tailored solutions that benefit both the customer and the company. His role is to help customers find the right products or services while driving sales and support the company's growth. Through effective communication and problem-solving, Payden works to establish trust, close deals, and ensure customer satisfaction, playing an integral part in fostering long-term relationships that contribute to the success of Ulmer Auction.

Payden enjoys spending time with his fiancé and two kids, who live in Steele, ND, on a cattle and grain operation. He also enjoys going out with friends and discussing all things agriculture.

Seth has been with the company for a year, bringing a strong focus on assisting customers with the consignment process and ensuring they get the best value possible through Ulmer Auction. He helps clients navigate auction services and connects them with the right solutions. Seth is also instrumental in promoting and selling products or services on behalf of the company, building and maintaining relationships with clients, identifying sales opportunities, and negotiating deals to meet sales targets.

In his free time, Seth enjoys golfing, hunting, and fishing. He also loves spending time with his high school sweetheart, Lexi, whom he married in July of 2024.

Josh grew up on the road with Ulmer Auction Service, where he developed a strong connection to North Dakota’s farming and ranching communities. He has continued to stay involved with the family business while building a career in commercial and agricultural banking, helping local producers and businesses succeed.

Outside of work, Josh is active in community organizations and enjoys spending time with his three children, Crosby, Ryan, and Clara. He brings both professional expertise and a lifetime of auction experience to the Ulmer team.

Dawn has been with Ulmer Auction for 10 years, where she plays a crucial role in managing the office, human resources, and inventory control. In her position as Office Manager and HR Director, Dawn ensures that all administrative functions are executed smoothly, from managing inventory to overseeing financial tasks. Her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities while maintaining effective communication with the team makes her an essential part of Ulmer Auction operations. Dawn’s strong organizational skills contribute to keeping everything on track, and she works hard to support the company’s goals.

Dawn lives on a farm in rural South Dakota with her husband, Jason, and their three children: Jay, Dena, and Derek. Outside of work, she stays busy attending her children’s activities, including sports, music, and 4-H events, which keep her engaged throughout the year. In her rare moments of downtime, Dawn enjoys reading, watching movies, playing the piano, and baking.

Stacy joined Ulmer Auction Service part-time in October 2025 and serves as the Office Manager. In this role, she keeps the office running smoothly managing staff, overseeing inventory, handling auction transactions, and providing exceptional customer service to ensure every auction is a seamless experience for clients and customers alike. Known for her dedication and willingness to jump in wherever needed, Stacy is truly a cornerstone of the team.

Outside of work, Stacy loves traveling, spending time on the farm, and cheering on her grandchildren at their activities. She is a proud mother of five adult children and a loving grandmother to six grandchildren.

Megan joined the team as a full-time employee in June of 2024, bringing valuable experience in financial management and real estate transactions. As an Auction Closing Agent, she oversees all accounts payable, real estate sales, and the finalization of auction files. Megan is responsible for processing invoices, managing financial records, and ensuring all payments are made and paperwork is completed. She also manages the company’s financial obligations by tracking payments and ensuring vendors are paid on time.

Megan grew up on her family farm near Java, SD, and now resides in Ashley, ND. She graduated from Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business management. Prior to joining Ulmer Auction and Dakota Line Sales, Megan worked as an agricultural and commercial loan officer and as an accounting support specialist, which helped build her strong foundation in financial management and client relations.

In Megan’s free time she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and using her laser engraver / cutter.

Megan lives with her boyfriend and his two kids. Along with their goldendoodle puppy, Penny.

Carrie joined the team as a full-time employee in June of 2024, bringing extensive experience in customer service and administrative support. In her role, Carrie assists and supports customers before, during, and after their purchases or interactions with the company. She handles inquiries, resolves issues, and provides product information to ensure seamless customer experience. Additionally, Carrie manages and tracks outstanding invoices, ensures timely payments, and follows up with customers who have overdue accounts, playing a crucial role in maintaining positive relationships and financial accountability.

Carrie has over 21 years of experience as a Customer Service Specialist and has spent the last 16 years as an Administrative Assistant at Wishek Public School, where she managed a wide range of administrative tasks. Outside of work, Carrie enjoys taking walks, listening to music, riding their motorcycle and traveling. Originally from Ashley, ND, she now lives west of Wishek with her husband, Glen, with whom she has been married for 40 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren

Melissa Ulmer is a dedicated Customer Service Representative at Ulmer Auction, where she plays a crucial role in ensuring that every customer’s experience is smooth and positive. Her commitment to customer satisfaction and her strong communication skills help build lasting relationships and ensure that every customer feels valued and supported. Melissa’s attention to detail and problem-solving abilities make her an essential part of the Ulmer Auction team.

Outside of her work at Ulmer Auction, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband, Brent Ulmer, and their two children, Bennett and Alyvia. She is passionate about Bible study, cooking, and music, which provide a balance to her busy professional life.

Taylor joined Ulmer Auction in April 2026 as Title Coordinator, bringing strong organizational skills, reliability, and a dedication to learning every aspect of the role. Her attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent service make her a valuable part of the Ulmer Auction team.

Originally from Arizona, Taylor spent most of her life in the Southwest before making the move to Roscoe, South Dakota. She has embraced the rural lifestyle, trading "watch for scorpions" for "watch for deer," and enjoys the peaceful pace and close-knit community that farm life offers.

Taylor is the proud mother of two daughters, Rylee and Braelynn. Family is at the center of her life, and she treasures spending quality time with her girls—whether that means relaxing at home, participating in Bible study, watching sunsets, or enjoying game nights together.

When she has time to herself, Taylor enjoys reading, finding both relaxation and inspiration in a good book. With a strong work ethic, deep-rooted family values, and a genuine appreciation for simple living, Taylor brings warmth, professionalism, and dedication to everything she does at Ulmer Auction.

Candice Williamson has been a valued auction clerk at Ulmer Auction since 1998.  In her role, she manages the administrative side of the auction process, including recording bids, tracking items, and ensuring everything is organized and accurate throughout the event.

Outside of work, Candice loves spending time with her grandchildren and enjoys being out on the lake.  In the winter, she heads to Texas to escape the cold, but the rest of the year, she calls Ashley, ND home.

Candice, dedication and positive spirit make her a vital part of the Ulmer Auction team.

Based in Bismarck, I bring a strong background in sales and marketing, with years of experience helping businesses grow their reach and impact. I was first introduced to the Ulmer Auction team in the spring of 2025 through a business connection—and after attending just a couple of sales, I quickly became one of their top fans. The energy, the crowds, and most of all, the Ulmer family's authentic, hands-on approach made a lasting impression. It was clear right away: these are good people doing great work.

What started with social media and creative projects has since evolved into a full-time role. Today, I work closely with Brent to manage the expanding marketing efforts each sale demands, while also helping build a stronger digital presence for Ulmer Auction Service. I’m proud to be part of a team that values connection, community, and doing things the right way.

As a Marketing Assistant at Ulmer Auction, Alyvia plays a key role in creating engaging social media content and supporting the team in reaching new customers. Her work helps keep our auction events visible and exciting for the community!

Alyvia is a Junior at Ashley Public School and plans to pursue a business degree in college. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family—her parents, Brent and Melissa Ulmer, and her brother, Bennett. She also loves riding horses, doing Bible study, and listening to music.

Brad started with the company in 2025 and is responsible for maintaining and repairing any vehicles or machinery used in auction operations. He ensures all equipment is in working order by performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical issues. His work ensures the smooth running of the company’s auction services.

In his free time, Brad enjoys fishing and hunting. He grew up in the Ashley/Wishek area and currently lives in Ashley, ND.

Tammy Strobel is an important member of the Ulmer Auction team.  Tammy is involved in various aspects of the auction process, including assisting the auctioneer, facilitating bids, and working as a member of the auction team. Tammy has been with Ulmer Auction for many years and brings a wealth of experience to the team.

Originally from a farm located 21 miles from Ashley, 19 miles from Kulm and 20 miles from Ellendale.  Tammy now lives 12 miles south of Kulm, near the Whitestone Battlefield.  When she’s not at the auction, Tammy is busy teaching first grade at Kulm Public School and serves as the school’s activities director.

At home Tammy and her husband Kevin, a rancher and head boys’ basketball coach, raise a variety of animals, including beef cattle, goats, donkeys, llamas, chickens, horse, rabbits, cats and dogs.

They are proud parents of three kids: Austin, a freshman at USCU studying PE/Health and coaching; Connor, a junior at Kulm High School; and Ally, a freshman at Kulm High School.

Tammy’s hardworking, caring nature shines both at the auction and at home, making her an integral part of the team.

Lanette has been with the company since May of 2022. In her role, she is responsible for managing administrative tasks during auctions, including registering bids, recording bids, and documenting the details of each sale. Lanette ensures that all transactions are accurately tracked, maintains the auction’s financial records, and assists with finalizing payments and generating receipts for buyers. Her role is essential in ensuring the auction runs smoothly and efficiently from start to finish.

Lanette enjoys checking and working with cattle. Originally from Long Lake, SD, she grew up on her family farm and attended school in Leola before studying at SDSU in Brookings. Lanette has been married to Dean Butler for 32 years, and together they have three children: Robin, Jonathan, and Emilie.

Joe Fregien has been a valued member of the Ulmer Auction team since 1978.  As a ring man, he plays an essential role in managing the live auction process and ensuring everything runs smoothly.  Joe also handles online bids for customers, making it easy for buyers to participate no matter where they are.

When he’s not helping at the auction, you can find Joe enjoying his favorite hobby, fishing.

Kevin has been a professional auctioneer for 35 years and brings a wealth of experience to our team. He assists Ulmer Auction by stepping in to conduct auctions as needed, ensuring that the event runs smoothly. Kevin is well-versed in the auction process, including the items being auctioned, the bidding process, and all legal requirements. He is always prepared to take over or support the auction as necessary, ensuring the flow and success of the event.

Kevin is from Langford, South Dakota, and owns and operates Aberdeen Livestock Cattle Auction Yards, where he continues to contribute to the success of the auction industry.

Lewis has been with the company for 21 years and plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of auctions. He assists with auctioning, ring service, working trailers, and listing equipment for consignment sales. Lewis is responsible for managing the auction ring, presenting items effectively, and interacting with bidders to maintain a successful auction experience.

Lewis enjoys spending time chasing his kids around for sporting events, auctioneering, hunting, fishing, working, and breaking horses. He grew up on a farm near Bowdle, SD, where he was introduced to auctioneering early on, as his dad and local auctioneers worked together. Lewis attended Continental Auction School in 2004, which led him to begin conducting his own auctions and assisting auctioneers in the area. He is married to Katrina, and they have three children: Matthew, Kaden, and Jaycee.
